Dr. Milan Chag is a pioneering force in the field of cardiology, renowned for establishing comprehensive coronary, non-coronary, congenital, and structural heart disease interventional programs in Gujarat, India. With an extensive training background from prestigious institutions such as Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre in Mumbai, Christian Medical College in Vellore, and Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute in Lucknow, Dr. Chag brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his practice.

As the first cardiologist from Gujarat to earn both DM and DNB degrees, Dr. Chag has dedicated 30 years to advancing the field of cardiology. His expertise has been recognized by the National Board of Examination, New Delhi, appointing him as a postgraduate teacher in cardiology. In February 2011, the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences in Winnipeg, Canada, awarded him the “Distinguished Service Award in Cardiovascular Science, Medicine and Surgery.”

• Complex Angioplasties Expert: Dr. Chag excels in performing complex angioplasties, including those of the left main coronary artery (LMCA), bifurcation lesions, calcific lesions with the use of Rota-ablation and IVL, intravascular imaging (IVUS and OCT), and physiological assessments (FFR and RFR).
• Neonatal and Pediatric Interventions: Since 1993, he has pioneered neonatal and pediatric cardiac interventions in Gujarat.
• Structural Heart Disease Interventions: Dr. Chag has been at the forefront of structural heart disease interventions, including valvuloplasty, device closures (ASD, VSD, PDA), para-valvular leaks, and coarctation angioplasty and stenting since 1993.
• Primary Angioplasty Program: An expert in primary angioplasty for acute myocardial infarction since 2001.
• Percutaneous Transseptal Myocardial Ablation: Leading in alcohol septal ablation for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy with over 75 successful cases since 2003, the highest number in India.
• Thoracic Endovascular Repair (TEVAR): Specialist in TEVAR for aortic dissection and aortic aneurysms since 2010.
• Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR): Performed India’s first trans-aortic TAVR in March 2015 and established a successful TAVR program at MCIMS with over 28 cases, the highest in Gujarat.
• Heart Transplant Program: Trained at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC), USA, in heart-lung transplant and LV assist devices. Since December 2016, Dr. Chag has successfully led the heart transplant program at MCIMS, completing over 50 heart transplants.
